Cowls are hooded draped fabric that cover the shoulders. They are medieval shoulder-warmers that can be layered over a cloak on those really cold days. Or they can be worn by themselves when it's a bit warmer.
Capelets have slightly longer mantels.
Materials include but are not limited to corduroy, linen, duck, heavy cotton, wool, and brocades. They are lined in linen to prevent slipping.
Cowls and Capelets can be dressed up or down with trim and tassels.
